The PS3 BD Remote DOES have infrared as well as Bluetooth, and it can be used to control a TV. (It has buttons specifically for this purpose.) The people saying this can't be done either don't own one or haven't read the manual. See the manual which came the remote, which is also available online via Sony's website at (it's towards the bottom of the page).
