Vero Visi Crack Cocaine

In a predawn raid on Wednesday, police agencies in three counties seized 58 properties valued at $3.6 million, arrested nine people and reportedly closed down a major drug sales and distribution ring run by a Dania man and members of his family. Ivory McCutcheon, 59, of 401 NW Third Place, was identified by U.S. Attorney Dexter Lehtinen as the ringleader of a drug operation that imported cocaine from Colombia and pushed crack cocaine in Broward, Palm Beach and Indian River counties for 15 years. McCutcheon and his brother-in-law, Stanley Jennings, 31, of Vero Beach, and 13 other people, mostly members of the McCutcheon and Jennings families, were charged in federal indictments with conspiring to distribute crack cocaine. Three of the suspects were already in custody on other charges, and three others are still being sought. The indictments also allege that the families bought business and residential real estate with drug money. ``This is a very, very big operation,`` Broward Sheriff Nick Navarro said.
``We have achieved a great success in breaking down one of the largest organizations in the distribution of crack cocaine and other drugs in South Florida and throughout the state.`` But Navarro said the raid`s impact would be limited. ``For a couple of days there might be a slowdown, but it`s going to pick up somewhere else,`` he said.

The coordinated raids by 120 officers from the Broward Sheriff`s Office, the Hollywood Police Department, the FBI and the Indian River County Sheriff`s Office were the culmination of a two-year undercover investigation into the families. ``The federal government is going after the organized aspects of crack cocaine and the profit-making aspects,`` Lehtinen said. ``Instead of taking the minor pusher off the streets, we make a substantial dent in these organizations.`` Besides a score of houses, a shopping center, warehouse buildings, cars, trucks and construction equipment, the police raiders found 100 kilograms of cocaine stashed in a refrigerator at 330 SW Fourth Court in Dania, some cash and several weapons.
All the arrests were made without incident. Twenty-seven of the properties are in Broward County and two are in Palm Beach County. The remaining 29 are in Indian River County. ``In the last six years they handled hundreds of kilos of cocaine worth somewhere in the neighborhood of $60 million,`` said Steve Bertucelli, director of the Organized Crime Division of the Broward Sheriff`s Office. Those arrested besides Ivory McCutcheon and Stanley Jennings were: James McCutcheon, 37, James Williams, 32, both of Dania; Will Dennis, 39, Paulette Seabrook, 38, and Noble Williams Jr., 41, all of Hollywood; Bernard Jennings, 36, of Vero Beach; and Sharon Jennings, 33, address unknown. Three people- Leonard Jennings, 38, Lorenzo Jennings, 30, and Cynthia Jennings Ausby, 37--are in state prisons on chargees unrelated to the indictments.
