I first read in Genes and Giants (if I remember correctly), and then heard in more than one of your interviews, that you seem fairly certain that a certain form of manipulative technology was involved in St. Paul’s conversion experience – in his hearing Christ, and going blind, on the road to Damascus. How can you be so certain? Many many even recent and well documented saints, miracle working saints, have taken his writings and his experiences as sound and true.

In my own case, my own life has been literally saved by Christ. Yes, I like you have problems with certain parts of the the Old Testament — I’ve come to accept that during the Babylonian period there may have been a reworking of a previous tradition.

I don’t take all of scripture to be infallible. It is a mistake to jump to conclusions without weighing all of the evidence — the evidence of thousands of known and unknown miracle working saints, and the experiences of many many Christians, even such as myself, is in my mind evidence that carries great weight. There is no need to throw away St. Paul in order to advance the greater part of your theory, and it is illogical, possibly dangerous, to push your view in this specific area while ignoring the great mass of counter evidence.
